PERFORMING IDENTITIES
Panel 2 - “Another Performance Turn: A New Understanding of Performance.”

The talk is interested in thinking about performance as more than a medium, beyond its liveness and ephemerality and look at it as a means to raise a series of questions and reflections about how it mediates contingent questions on identity construction and deconstruction. Indeed, one of the etymological roots of 'performance' is the old French 'perfournir', a verb that means 'to finish a form and give a shape'. In the panel, the speakers discuss either a project, an exhibition or a program they have developed in the past or plan to develop in the nearby future, reflecting on 'performance' as a means to discuss the deconstruction of narratives and the creation of new subjectivities.
